New milestones for the STEAM Office at the Abacusan Studio and the II. Ped-Pitch Forum

New milestones for the STEAM Office at the Abacusan Studio and the II. Ped-Pitch Forum

How do the technology of the future, social responsibility, and digital child well-being interconnect? On November 18, the professional team of the STEAM Office sought answers at two mutually reinforcing venues: first in the inspiring workshop of the Abacusan Studio, and later in the innovative environment of the II. Ped-Pitch Forum.

The strategic significance of the day lay in simultaneously strengthening our alliance with a key partner and plugging into the national professional pipeline, where educators, developers, and decision-makers brainstorm together about the future of education.

Technology becomes a community experience – Visit to the Abacusan Studio

In the morning, Zoltán Márton, Head of the STEAM Office and Director of the Hungarian STEAM Platform, held a consultation at the professional workshop of Abacusan Studio Educational Organization Nonprofit Ltd. The meeting reinforced our belief that domestic STEAM development is not merely a matter of strategic documents, but a living, breathing, community-building practice.

The special mission of the Abacusan Studio is to interpret technology not as an end in itself, but as a community experience, a bridge between generations, and a creative process. Whether it is 3D workshops organized for seniors or theatrical productions developing financial literacy in an innovative way, learning with them turns into a genuine experience and practical problem-solving.

During the discussion with this core partner of the International STEAM Festival, we laid the groundwork for a longer-term, structured cooperation that opens up new horizons for us in teacher support, digital creation, and intergenerational knowledge sharing.

EdTech and digital child well-being – Lessons from the II. Ped-Pitch Forum

In the afternoon, the STEAM Office team attended the II. Ped-Pitch Public Benefit Investor Forum, organized by EduTech Hungary and the EdTech Coalition. The event did not just provide an opportunity for introductions; it functioned as a platform where innovative educational solutions could be presented to decision-makers and stakeholders providing social capital.

Obuda University was represented by Zoltán Márton, Erzsébet Katona (special education and SEN expert), and Attila Fodor (EdTech innovator and STEAM project coordinator). Our experts appeared simultaneously as representatives of STEAM, EdTech, equal opportunities, and digital child well-being, proving that university innovation goes hand in hand with children’s well-being and supporting educators.

The common characteristic of the projects in the forum’s spotlight was their strive to reduce digital overload and support children’s development. The most important realization of the day was that the true value of educational technology lies not in “gadgets,” but in human-centered, pedagogically sound solutions.

II. Ped-Pitch 2025 summary

Why is this important for the future of the STEAM Office?

This day fit perfectly into the ecosystem-building logic of the STEAM Office. We interpret these occurrences not as isolated events, but as the joint construction of digital child well-being, SEN (Special Educational Needs) support, game-based learning, and social impact.

We are convinced that technology becomes a true STEAM value when it is capable of building a bridge between families, schools, universities, NGOs, and industry players. As a result of the 2nd Ped-Pitch Forum and the consultation with the Abacusan Studio, we have further strengthened the role of Óbuda University in the domestic professional arena, and we stand ready to implement new, joint innovation projects.
