Obuda University successes at the DigiEduHack Hungary event!
arany.barna.dora2026-03-10T14:23:21+02:00A student team from Óbuda University—Luca Pete and Dániel Lenkei—achieved an outstanding third-place finish at the DigiEduHack Hungary competition. The event was an initiative of the European Commission, organized by EduTech Hungary Zrt. and the EdTech Coalition. The university was present not only through its competitors but also as a professional supporter: Zoltán Márton assisted the teams as an independent mentor, and his professional work was highly valued by both participants and organizers. This success further strengthens Óbuda University’s commitment to domestic digital educational innovation.
Our students, Luca and Dániel, placed third at the DigiEduHack Hungary competition
Luca Pete is an Industrial Product and Design Engineering student at Obuda University’s Rejtő Sándor Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering, while her teammate Dániel Lenkei is a Mechanical Engineering student at the Bánki Donát Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering.
Our students applied for this educational technology challenge and, on November 15, 2025, the first day of the hackathon, participated in design thinking and artificial intelligence-themed workshops. Following the training, they began developing their ideas (ideation) and defining their goals, seeking solutions that use ethical AI to reduce digital overload and distractions.
On November 16, 2025, the design and prototyping phase began. The OE students incorporated advice from mentors representing various professional fields and effectively applied these insights while preparing for their pitch. Their presentation was positively evaluated by several mentors, resulting in the team securing third place.

The contribution of their mentor, Zoltán Márton
Zoltán Márton, Head of the Obuda University STEAM Office and the Hungarian STEAM Platform, maintains close cooperation with the EdTech Coalition and EduTech Hungary. A prominent example of this was his joint presentation with Dr. Kristóf Fenyvesi at the EdTech Summit 2025.
As a natural continuation of this partnership, Obuda University acted as a professional partner for the DigiEduHack educational technology hackathon, with Zoltán Márton assisting the participating teams as a mentor.
In his personal report, Zoltán Márton highlighted how inspiring it was to see student teams working on solutions that support user autonomy, awareness, and digital wellbeing through ethical AI tools, while respecting the principles of data protection and transparency. His mentoring work was recognized by organizers, fellow mentors, and the teams alike.
According to Zoltán Márton, such events are particularly valuable because, besides cross-sectoral cooperation, they provide real feedback on the current needs of educational development—and we can see the first demos of potential solutions directly from the target audience.

Obuda University’s contribution to digital educational innovation
Through the EU STEM Coalition channels, we had previously received information from the European Commission regarding this year’s round of DigiEduHack. We saw this as an excellent opportunity to link up with our EdTech Talents Horizon Europe project and our participation in previous DigiEduHack events.
On behalf of the Obuda University STEAM Office and the Hungarian STEAM Platform, we are pleased to support every initiative that strengthens the autonomy, awareness, and digital wellbeing of the younger generation. This is why we considered it important to join the event organized by EduTech Hungary Zrt. and the EdTech Coalition.
In addition to its innovation ecosystem, Obuda University makes significant efforts to strengthen STEAM and EdTech research and development. The institution pays special attention to coordinating research and development in this field, which has resulted in numerous defining professional achievements and collaborations.
