Free Summer STEM Children’s Programs at Obuda University!
arany.barna.dora2026-03-12T12:02:36+02:00In a joint organization by the Kandó Kálmán Faculty of Electrical Engineering Student College, Obuda University, the STEAM Office – Hungarian STEAM Platform, and MVM Zrt., we have launched a free STEM program for our former and outstandingly performing campers!
The program commenced at the Obuda University Kandó Kálmán Faculty of Electrical Engineering under the professional leadership of Tamás Sándor, Assistant Lecturer and Director of the Student College. Practical instruction and organization are carried out with the assistance of Döníz Borsos, Assistant Lecturer, and Gergő Juhász, University Intern.
During the first day, children were able to try the Sphero robot, visited a recording studio, gained insight into the operation of a broadcasting truck, and were introduced to the world of the telecommunications lab.
Today, we are guiding participants through the electronics lab, where they are getting acquainted with soldering irons, multimeters, and various circuit components such as resistors, capacitors, and diodes. Adhering to laboratory safety regulations, they are learning soldering techniques, including the correct use of the soldering iron and the placement and fixing of components on circuit boards. As part of their project work, children are building simple circuits and subsequently testing their finished creations using multimeters and oscilloscopes. Additionally, they are acquiring troubleshooting techniques, which enhances their problem-solving skills.
Project Works:
Building a simple circuit
Collaborative programming of an algorithm controlling an electronic die
Integration and testing of a solar panel
On the second day of the program series, thanks to the support of MVM Zrt., we are taking a special field trip to the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. Through an expert lecture, the children will learn about the operation of the power plant, its safety systems, and the role of nuclear energy. The visit is excellent not only for expanding their knowledge of electronics but also for sparking their interest in science, while providing a lifelong experience through the tour of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant.
